Service Description

Typical Church Service
When you visit a church service at Emmanuel Assembly of God, the one thing
you should expect is a personal, uplifting worship experience. Our services center
around participation. We typically worship as we live, with a desire and a hunger
for a touch from God. |

|
Worship Service
The service may include quiet times of waiting in God’s presence; spiritually
enjoying the sacred atmosphere. Other times may be vocal with collective praise
as worshippers are invited to spontaneously express their love and adoration to
God. In everything, expect a flow of worship to be evident and, despite the spontaneity
and excitement of the worship, you will find a certain properness and order.
When you worship with us, you will find that worship styles will reflect the spectrum
of personalities among the congregants. Some are quiet and some are reserved; some
will shout with joy while others are simply tender and openly emotional during their
times of praise or while the message is being delivered. No sincere worshipper needs
to feel out of place and each expression of the people will blend without disruption
into the flow of worship that is taking place. You will be blessed.

Music
Music is a major feature of our worship, before, during, and even after
the service itself. Instruments used in our services range from piano and organ
to guitars, various stringed instruments, woodwinds, horns, and drums.
Whatever the accompaniment, inspired worshipful singing is the order of the day.
Any service may include traditional hymns, hand-clapping gospel songs, contemporary
compositions, or reverent worshipful choruses. There is something for each taste.
Music will include both congregational and occasional specials – solos, duets, ensembles,
choirs, or instrumentals. The worship time is not a performance, it is the music
of worship from the hearts of those leading and those in the congregation joining
in.
Prayer
A special time in each service is devoted to prayer. Needs from inside
the church and outside the church family frequently are made known and prayer for.
This congregation prays together. All may pray aloud but conclude with a single
voice – the worship leader or other designated person praying in behalf of all.

Giving
During the service, tithes and offerings are normally received, but keep
in mind that this is more than a collection to pay church bills. Our giving is an
opportunity once again to extend worship to our God for His provision. It too is
worship. Our members feel that giving the tithe (the first tenth of income) and
offerings declares that God comes first. It recognizes His blessing, expresses faith,
and seeks His guidance in every matter of life.
The ministries of our local church and global work of the Assemblies of God missionaries
are supported solely
by free-will giving. However, we want our visitors to feel
welcome and not under an obligation to give. So when you come for a visit, be just
that, a visitor, and we will take care of business. We want you to be blessed. So
just enjoy the service.

Challenging Messages
The peak of the service comes when the Word is delivered; the preaching
of God’s Word, the Bible, and then an invitation for the hearers of that Word to
respond to it. The sermons delivered at Emmanuel will inspire, challenge, and truly
touch your soul. They are Word-driven and given with enthusiasm and life. Plan to
be blessed by the Word and you will be.
The pastor or speaker may close with an invitation for those who need forgiveness
in their lives to come forward and accept Christ as Savior. Those who feel a need
to rededicate their lives to Christ or to pray about other concerns are also invited
to come. Believers are urged to ask God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit to further
empower them for Christian service. Often, everyone is invited to come and pray
during the altar service.
In many services, a deep emotion or a jubilant excitement may or may not be demonstrated
at the altar, but everyone who comes to the altar and everyone who calls on God
in faith receives something. |

|
If you’ve wondered what a Pentecostal service is like, we invite you to observe
and experience God’s joy and peace that defy description. And when you visit again,
come expecting. Expect a move of God not only in the service, but also in your life.
We think you’ll agree that the comfort, help, and strength He gives are better experienced
than explaining.
