1. What does the Assemblies of God denomination believe?
In short, Emmanuel Assembly of God, which is affiliated with the Assemblies
of God denomination, believes that Jesus is the only Son of God that died on the
Cross for our sins, rose from the grave, and is the only Way to Heaven. More specifically,
Emmanuel follows the 16 tenets of faith of the Assemblies of God denomination.
2. Is Emmanuel a Pentecostal church?
Yes, Emmanuel Assembly of God is a Pentecostal church affiliated with the
Assemblies of God denomination.
3. What does it mean to be Pentecostal?
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the speaking in tongues
with the interpretation according to Acts 2:4.
4. How long has Emmanuel been around?
Emmanuel was established in 1911 and has been growing since. For more information,

5. Where is Emmanuel located?
Emmanuel is located at 1431 Lehigh Parkway East in Allentown, PA. For directions,

6. Is there handicap access?
Emmanuel Assembly of God is handicap accessible.
7. What are the service times?
Sunday School starts at 9:30am and Sunday Morning Worship starts at 10:30am.

8. How long are the services and what should I expect at a typical service?
Services are typically about 1.5 hours. For service information, see the

9. What type of music is played during worship?
At Emmanuel, we use a wide range of music styles to worship God. We do
not want to limit our style of expression to Him nor do we want a particular style
of music to “define” us. Instead, we worship the Lord with an eclectic mixture of
classic hymns and contemporary worship.
10. Does Emmanuel have Sunday night and Wednesday evening services?
Yes, Sunday Evening Service starts at 6:00pm and Wednesday Evening Service

11. Is there a dress code for services?
Modest.
12. Do I have to be a member to attend services?
No you do not have to be a member, everyone is welcome to attend our services.

13. Do I have to have a Bible to attend services?
No, you do not need to have a Bible to attend services. However, we do
believe that the Bible is critical to understanding who God is and how deep His
love is for us. If you do not own one, we would be happy to provide one for you.
14. Are there programs for my children?
Yes, there are Sunday School classes and Children’s Church specifically
geared to teach the Gospel to children in a fun, respectful, and meaningful way.
During the Wednesday Evening Service, we also have the Missionettes and Royal Rangers
programs for girls and boys, respectively. For more information on the children’s

15. Are there programs for my teenagers?
Yes, Emmanuel has Sunday School classes and Wednesday night Bible study
for teenagers where the lessons are taught in a way that is relevant to their lives.
The youth group also has various activities and functions throughout the year that
help develop their love and service to God as well as strengthen their relationships

16. Does Emmanuel have a young adult’s class or group?
Yes, there is a young adult Bible study Wednesday evenings in the lower
level of the main Sanctuary.
17. Is the service translated into sign language?
At this time, sign language is not in use.
18. Are there any services in different languages?
There is a Spanish Emmanuel Assembly of God that meets in the same location
at different times. For information about the Spanish services, go to the Spanish

19. What types of Bible studies are there?
On Sunday mornings, we have Sunday School classes for each and every
age group. On Monday nights during football season, we have a Men’s Bible study. On
Wednesday evening, we again have classes for various age groups. On Thursdays, we
have the Ladies Prayer Fellowship. On the fourth Saturday of each month, there is
a Men’s breakfast.
20. How does Emmanuel reach out to the community?
Emmanuel conducts and supports local outreach ministries such as the Nursing
Home Ministry and Slam Jam.
21. Does Emmanuel support Missionaries?
Yes, Emmanuel supports missionaries affiliated with the Assemblies of God

22. Am I obligated financially if I attend?
Emmanuel Assembly of God receives freewill offerings to support the ongoing
work of the Lord.
23. Do you give receipts for offerings and is my giving tax deductible?
We do not give receipts for individual offerings. We give tax receipts
at the end of the year. Certain circumstances that require receipts are dealt with
on an individual basis.
24. Do you have an annual business meeting for accountability?
Yes, our annual business meeting is normally held at the end of October.
25. How do I become a member?
If you desire membership with Emmanuel Assembly of God the requirements
are: attend the services on a regular basis, support the work by your giving of
tithes and offerings, fill out an application for membership and apply to the board.
The criteria for membership is found in our bylaws which is available in our church
office.
26. Can I transfer my membership from another Assembly of God church?
Yes, request a letter of transfer from your Pastor.
27. Can I transfer my membership from a church of another denomination?
Emmanuel Assembly of God does not accept transfers from non-Assembly of
God churches. A membership class is required.
